Cons
- Pricing is in USD only — Australian practices face exchange rate fluctuations and typically pay more than the listed price in AUD
- No phone support — only email and in-app chat, which may frustrate practitioners who prefer speaking to a human
- NDIS claims cannot be submitted directly through Cliniko — invoicing setup is supported but claims must be processed externally
- Key features like exercise prescription, AI clinical notes, and advanced outcome tracking require paid third-party integrations
- Medicare and health fund claiming requires a separate Tyro Health account and per-transaction fees
- No built-in payroll, rostering, or HR features — practices need separate software for staff management

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Cliniko pricing in AUD or USD?
Cliniko pricing is in USD (United States dollars), not AUD. This means Australian practices will see costs fluctuate with the AUD/USD exchange rate. Plans range from USD $45/month for a solo practitioner to USD $395/month for 26-200 practitioners. Annual billing gives you one month free.
Does Cliniko support Medicare bulk billing?
Yes. Cliniko integrates with Tyro Health (formerly Medipass) to process Medicare bulk bills and patient claims directly from your Cliniko account — no physical terminal needed. DVA claims are also supported. Cliniko users receive discounted Tyro Health transaction rates.
Can I process HICAPS claims through Cliniko?
Cliniko supports private health fund claiming through HealthPoint via the Tyro Health integration. The older HICAPS terminal integration was replaced by HealthPoint online claiming in February 2023. This covers all major Australian health funds and processes claims without a physical terminal.
Does Cliniko support NDIS invoicing?
Cliniko supports NDIS invoicing setup — you can create NDIS-specific billable items with decimal quantity support and track participant funding through patient cases. However, actual NDIS claims cannot be submitted through Cliniko and must be processed externally via the NDIS portal or a plan manager.
Where is my data stored if I'm in Australia?
Australian Cliniko accounts have their data stored on AWS servers in Australia. Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and HTTPS/SSL in transit. Cliniko is compliant with the Australian Privacy Principles, and daily backups are stored across multiple physical locations.
Does Cliniko have phone support?
No. Cliniko deliberately moved away from phone support in favour of email and in-app chat, which they say allows them to help more people faster. Support is available 24 hours a day, five days a week (Monday to Friday), with limited monitoring on weekends. There is also a comprehensive help centre and an active community forum.
